Supermodel Naomi Campbell stepped out with a controversial new beau at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Wednesday – her date was a convicted swindler.

The runway queen – who has an assault conviction to her name – arrived at the premiere of new movie Che with Christian Rocancourt, a fraudster who has spent five years in prison for stealing millions of dollars from investors.

According to the New York Post, Rocancourt, 40, has impersonated members of Manhattan’s famous Rothschild and Rockefeller families and pretended to be the son of actress Sophia Loren in the past, to dupe investors out of money.

Campbell celebrated her 38th birthday after the premiere, with a party aboard Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ yacht.

Comedian Katt Williams found himself at the centre of a police raid on Tuesday, when cops stormed his Los Angeles mansion and arrested his distant cousin in connection to a drug-related shooting.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service, who had been looking for Robert McGhee, targetted Williams’ home after spotting his relative’s car parked outside the property.

McGhee was wanted by Ohio police after allegedly shooting a man in the chest on April 24th in Dayton, following a failed drug deal.

McGhee is said to have fled the state with his girlfriend last week, resulting in a nationwide search for the 31-year-old.

But he was soon tracked down to Williams’ house in the L.A. suburb – and authorities have credited the joint work of various state officials for his arrest.

U.S. Marshal James Wahlrab says, “This arrest highlights why it is critical for federal, state, and local law enforcement to team together to investigate and locate such dangerous fugitives.

“Criminals do not recognize jurisdictional boundaries that often limit our partnering agencies. Through tremendous collaboration and the efforts of our task force officers, we were able to utilise all of the necessary resources across the nation to apprehend this suspect.”

McGhee has been charged with felonious assault (causing serious harm), felonious assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Williams has not been charged with any crime, although police are still trying to determine whether the funnyman was aware of McGhee’s fugitive status and if he was home at the time of the arrest.

Comedian Chris Rock is set to make history when he performs in front of the largest U.K. comedy audience ever gathered.

Rock, 43, will break the current record of 10,108 – previously set by British comic Lee Evans in 2005 – when he appears before a crowd of 15,000 fans at London’s O2 arena on Friday.

Authorities from Guinness World Records will be present to ensure its official rules are met, and will announce after the show if Rock’s attempt has been successful.

David Campbell, CEO of AEG Europe, which owns the O2, says, “We have absolute faith that Chris will be breaking the world record for largest audience for a comedian.

“He is the first stand-up comedy act to perform in the arena and it is doubly thrilling for us that he will be breaking a world record at the same time.”

In January, Rock kicked off his world tour in Britian, making it his first ever performance outside his native U.S.

Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife Tracey Edmonds claims her new partner Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is wittier than the comedian.

Edmonds wed The Nutty Professor star Murphy on the Pacific island of Bora Bora on New Year’s Day after a year-long romance, but split just a fortnight later – before they could make the nuptials legal in their native U.S.

But despite only having been on a few dates with the hip-hop star, Edmonds has already rated him higher than her ex-husband.

She says, “Diddy is the funniest man I’ve ever met. I’m so lucky to find someone so soon after Eddie.

“It’s early days – we’ve only been on three or four dates – but he’s whisked me off my feet. I don’t know about wedding bells but he’s definitely the man for me.”

After a three-week break, Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” featuring Static Major returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. It’s the longest chart-topping hiatus since Usher’s “U Got It Bad” went four weeks between No. 1 stints in January 2002.

Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love” is No. 2 for a second week, while last week’s chart-topper, Rihanna’s “Take a Bow,” slips 3-1 despite being the fastest-growing track at radio. Usher’s “Love in This Club” featuring Young Jeezy rises 5-4, trading places with Jordin Sparks’ “No Air” featuring Chris Brown.

Ray J & Yung Berg’s “Sexy Can I” holds at No. 6, and Madonna’s “4 Minutes” featuring Justin Timberlake remains No. 7. Natasha Bedingfield’s “Pocketful of Sunshine” rises 9-8, trading places with Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body.” Danity Kane’s “Damaged” holds at No. 10 to round out the top tier.

Another new Usher song, “Love in This Club, Part II,” soars 63-18 in its fourth week, thanks to digital sales of 44,000.

The Hot 100’s greatest digital gainer is Duffy’s “Mercy,” which sold 59,000 downloads en route to a 66-27 climb. The U.K. artist’s debut Mercury album, “Rockferry,” debuted yesterday at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

The week’s top debut comes from the reunited New Kids On The Block with “Summertime” at No. 57. The song shifted 39,000 downloads and is off to a strong start at top 40 radio, moving 40-35 this week on the Pop 100 Airplay tally.

Also new this week are Kate Voegele’s “Hallelujah” at No. 66, Three 6 Mafia’s “Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body)” at No. 79 and Jason Mraz’s “Lucky” featuring Colbie Caillat at No. 82.

Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” is No. 1 for a fourth week on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, where Kanye West’s “Homecoming” featuring Chris Martin is the top new entry at No. 68.

Brad Paisley’s “I’m Still a Guy” moves 2-1 to overtake Hot Country Songs, his fourth chart-topper from the album “5th Gear.”

On Billboard’s rock chart, Weezer is No. 1 on Modern Rock with “Pork & Beans” for a third week, and Disturbed’s “Inside the Fire” tops Mainstream Rock for a third. The Cure has the top debut on Modern Rock with “The Only One” at No. 35.

Rapper Common has chosen “Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.)” as the first single from his upcoming album, “Invincible Summer,” due in mid-July via Geffen. The track was produced by the Neptune and features that outfit’s Pharrell Williams on the chorus.

“Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.)” is a high-energy track reminiscent of Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force’s “Planet Rock.” “I created this music for the summertime. It’s about feeling good,” Common told Billboard.com last month. “This is the type of music I felt was missing from my body of work.”

The Neptunes and Outkast producer Mr. DJ produced the bulk of “Invincible Summer.” Kanye West, who helmed the production on Common’s last album, 2007’s “Finding Forever,” did not contribute any tracks this time around.

“Finding Forever” has sold 551,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Rappers Kanye West, Method Man, Redman, Common and their record companies were sued yesterday (May 22) by late U.S. jazz musician Joe Farrell’s daughter, who accused them of using her father’s music without approval.

The lawsuit, filed by Kathleen Firrantello in the U.S. District Court in New York, names the rappers along with various labels owned by Universal Music Group.

None of the record companies or representatives for the rappers were immediately available for comment.

The lawsuit said all the rappers used portions of Farrell’s 1974 musical composition “Upon This Rock” in three separate songs — West in “Gone,” Common in “Chi-City” and Method Man and Redman in their song “Run 4 Cover.”

Firrantello is seeking punitive damages of at least $1 million and asked that no further copies of the songs be made, sold or performed, according to the lawsuit.

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York Gov. David Paterson is granting a full and unconditional pardon to rapper Ricky “Slick Rick” Walters for the attempted murders of two men in 1991.

The pardon is expected to halt efforts to deport Walters to the United Kingdom, the country he left as a child.

The eyepatch-wearing star behind the ’80s rap classic “La-Di-Da-Di” served more than five years in prison after the shooting of his cousin and another man. Both survived.

The governor says Walters is now a rap artist and landlord in the Bronx who hasn’t had any criminal problems since his release from prison in 1997. He also says Walters has volunteered to counsel youths against violence.
